Roaming Guide

UK Mobile Roaming 2026.
Which Networks Include
EU Roaming Free?

Post-Brexit, roaming varies enormously. O2 includes 49 EU destinations free as standard. Three Complete covers 163 countries. Here is the full independent picture.

UK Roaming After Brexit — The Post-2022 Landscape

When the UK formally left the EU's roaming regulations, UK networks lost their legal obligation to charge the same price for EU roaming as domestic UK use. Since 2022, most UK networks have reintroduced some form of EU roaming charge — but the picture is very different between operators, and the gap between the most and least generous is substantial. O2 kept free EU roaming; EE reintroduced daily charges on its entry tier but includes it free on higher tiers; Vodafone charges by the day on standard plans; Three includes EU roaming on qualifying plans via Go Roam. Always check your specific plan before any international travel.

O2 — Most Generous Standard Roaming (75 Countries)

O2 is the only major UK MNO not to have reintroduced any EU roaming charge on its standard plans. Every O2 Pay Monthly plan includes free roaming in 49 European destinations — all EU countries plus Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Monaco, and several others. A 25GB monthly data fair-use limit applies; international data speeds are capped at 2 Mbps. O2 is the post-Brexit roaming standout: if EU travel is important to you and you're on a standard O2 plan, you simply arrive in Europe and your phone works exactly as at home, at no extra charge.

O2's higher plan tiers extend this significantly. Plus Plan customers add the Travel Inclusive Zone — 27 further worldwide destinations including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and Argentina — bringing the total to 75 countries covered at no daily charge. Ultimate Plan customers get the same 75-country coverage, and will receive O2 Satellite access included when it rolls out to Ultimate Plans. Beyond included destinations, an O2 Travel Bolt On at £7/day covers additional countries on an ad-hoc basis.

Three (VodafoneThree) — Widest Reach at 163 Destinations

Three's Go Roam programme is the UK's most extensive international roaming offering by destination count. On qualifying Complete plans, Go Roam covers 163 countries organised in three tiers: Go Roam in Europe (49 destinations — all EU countries plus Liechtenstein, Norway, and others); Go Roam Around the World (22 additional countries including the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Hong Kong, Singapore, Jamaica, and others); Go Roam Around the World Extra (92 further destinations including Canada, China, India, Japan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Kenya, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Morocco, Egypt, Colombia, and dozens more). On Complete plans, all 163 destinations are included at no daily charge, with a 12GB monthly data fair-use cap. Value plans include only Go Roam in Europe (49 destinations). Lite plans include no Go Roam.

From 1 April 2026, daily rates for customers without included Go Roam were raised: £2.75/day in Europe (up from £2/day) and £8/day worldwide (up from £5/day).

EE — Tiered by Plan Level

EE's roaming is straightforward once you understand the tier system. Essentials plan customers pay £2.29/day to use their UK allowance in 47 European destinations (47 because EE's list differs slightly from O2's). Essentials Plus, All Rounder, and Full Works customers all include free EU roaming in the same 47 European destinations with a fair-use monthly data cap. Full Works plan customers also get a Roam Further Pass covering five additional worldwide destinations at no daily charge: Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, and the USA, with a 50GB monthly cap. Outside these included destinations, rest-of-world daily rates apply (up to £6.85/day depending on destination).

Tesco Mobile — Home From Home (48 Destinations)

Tesco Mobile's Home From Home benefit covers 48 EU and international destinations at no extra charge for both Pay Monthly and PAYG customers — use your full UK calls, texts, and data allowance as if you were at home. Destinations include all standard EU countries plus the Azores, Canary Islands, French Overseas territories (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Reunion, French Guiana, Mayotte, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin), Gibraltar, Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, and Vatican City. Tesco has committed to giving at least 30 days' notice before reintroducing any fees. A 62-days-in-4-months fair-use limit applies (customers cannot use Home From Home permanently abroad).

Vodafone — Zone-Based System

Vodafone uses a zone-based model. Zone A (4 destinations: Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Iceland, Norway) is included free on every plan. Zone B (47 European destinations) costs £2.42–£2.57/day on standard plans, with multi-day passes available. Zone C (32 worldwide destinations including USA, Canada, Australia, NZ, Turkey, South Africa) costs £6–£7.86/day. Vodafone's premium Unlimited Max Xtra Global Roam plans include Zones A+B+C (83 countries) at no daily charge, subject to a 25GB monthly data cap when roaming. Zone D covers further destinations at separate daily rates not included even in premium plans.

Always verify before travelling. Roaming terms change. The figures above are based on publicly available data as of May 2026. Check your specific plan's current roaming terms on your network's official website before any trip. This guide is for educational reference only.
